What musculoskeletal conditions do we cover?

       
Conditions we cover:
          · Postural muscle imbalance, crossed syndrome and core strength.
          · Lower back conditions: disc, nerve, joint, muscular and fascia conditions, sciatic and piriformis syndrome and iliopsoas imbalance. 
          · Osteoarthritis and common arthritic conditions. 
          · Hip and knee: arthritis, ligament strains, muscle weakness.
          · Joint instability: including sacroiliac and knee.
          · Thoracic spine: kyphosis, scoliosis and Scheuermann's.
          · Shoulder conditions: rotator cuff, bursitis, frozen shoulder and recurrent dislocation. 
          · Neck stiffness and disc injury.

          · Mental Health considerations including anxiety, depression, trauma sensitive practice.

* Note: We do not teach differential diagnosis in this course. However we do cover how to modify yoga to cater for those who have been diagnosed with common musculoskeletal health conditions. 
* Promoting Health practitioners and yoga teachers working together for enhanced client wellbeing.

What is the course structure? 

Starts August 23 - Nov 25th 2022 10 weekly modules online (with 3 weeks break)

Course Time commitment is approximately 5 hours per week. 
This includes learning portal short tasks to complete at your own pace e.g. readings, short quizzes, journaling, videos.

Therapeutic Yoga classes: minimum of 2 classes per week. 
At least one live prac class online.
Tues pm offers a 30 class during the live online session and/or
Fri am offers a 75 hr class with 50 mins of postures and 20 mins pranayama, meditation and relaxation during the live online session.
You may attend both sessions and cover your therapeutic yoga class requirements live. 
Or attend one live online and one via a recording.

Tuesday evenings 6.15- 8.30 pm AEST
August 23, 30, Sept 6, 13, Oct 5, 11, 18, 25, Nov 8, 15th.

Friday mornings. 9.30 - 11.45am AEST
Sept 2, 9, 16, Oct 7, 14, 21, 28, Nov 4, 11, 25. 
OR
Flexible learning option with live 2 x mentoring tutorial: 
Follow via the recorded videos plus live mentoring tutorials. 
Mentoring is organised at a mutually available time and can be business times or after hours by appointment.

Session structure:
The live training sessions will include a themed class, tutorial with question and answer, 
small online breakout groups for discussion and practice of micro skills. 
Attend a minimum of 7/10 tutorial sessions live online for options Tuesday evening or Friday morning streams.
There will be theory and applied yoga anatomy. 
It will be a relaxed nurturing environment where interaction and peer learning is encouraged. 

Both classes are recorded and usually available within a week.
Follow the course via the online learning portal.
You will have continuing access to the learning portal for 5 years including updated research and recordings.
You can attend both yoga classes live.

Assessment is via quiz questions on the portal.
Participation in musculoskeletal themed yoga classes minimum x 2 per week. 
Yoga Course plan or Case study and presentation based around the musculoskeletal theme.
A reflective journal of your practice, classes and / or teaching.

A new module opens each week!
Instructions on how to access the Learning portal will be emailed at the start of August so you can start on readings and exploring the learning portal.

For Yoga Teachers 50hrs CPD
Yoga Australia Certified. Recognised professional development with Yoga Alliance Internationally.

For Health Care practitioners 50 hrs CPD
Yes. Your CPD (professional Development) hours are approved with APHRA for all APHRA Health practitioners including Physiotherapists who choose to use therapeutic yoga within their scope of practice. This module can be used as a stand alone professional development for health care practitioners. And it can be combined with other physioyoga modules to form the Therapeutic Yoga foundations certificate.

What are the pre requisits?


For Yoga Teachers 
The Pre requisite is a minimum of 200hr Yoga TT or equivalent

NOTE: Yoga Teachers can use this module towards YTT150 hrs grad cert
Post Graduate Certification YTT 150 hrs and progress from a Provisional Membership (200YTT) to a Level 1 registered yoga teacher (350YTT) or
from a 350YTT  to 500YTT qualification with Yoga Australia.

Yoga Australia and Yoga Alliance. 
Certificate available upon completion of each module.

For Health Care practitioners 
Health professionals eg physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, occupational therapists to integrate into your scope of practice.
It is suitable for health practitioners with a basic human anatomy knowledge plus yoga experience to use within your scope of practice.

Pre requisite is a minimum of 200hr Yoga TT or equivalent.

Course Trainer Details

Lead educator 
Rebecca Fagan is a registered Physiotherapist with 25 years experience in musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and is a Senior Yoga Teacher with Yoga Australia and ERYT500+ registered with Yoga Alliance International Registrar (YAIR).
Rebecca has training and experience in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) acupuncture and meridian theory, lecturing in advanced anatomy, trauma sensitive yoga, Gestalt counselling and group work dynamics. Through Physioyoga and Wellbeing, Rebecca leads yoga training retreats in Bali for Yoga Teachers and Health Care Professionals.
Rebecca currently teaches Yoga professional development including: 
Yoga For Common Musculoskeletal Conditions and 
Advanced Yoga Nidra and Mindfulness: for relaxation, pain and mind management. 

Rebecca takes a supportive, nurturing approach to yoga emphasising acceptance, self awareness and experience of one's higher self through holistic hatha yoga, gentle flows, Yoga Nidra, chakra awareness and meditation.

Rebecca will be taking a minimum of 70% of the core training modules of the 150 hour YTT. This allows for unexpected absences eg illness as well as for guest teachers.

Rebecca has worked in many areas of physiotherapy; musculoskeletal private practice, pre and post natal women's health, rehabilitation, pain management, chronic conditions and community health, incorporating Physioyoga principles and practice.

Hatha Yoga, yoga Yin, children's yoga, Yoga for seniors, meditation, mindfulness and Yoga Nidra are areas of experience.

Post Graduate Yoga Teacher Training 150 hr 

The Post Graduate Yoga Teacher Training 150 hr includes: 
2 core modules and 3 electives of 20hrs each.

Flexible learning allows for modules to be done at your own pace.
Yoga Teachers can upgrade from a 200hr to 350hr or a 350 to 500hr training. 
Upon completion, 150 certification will be recognised by Yoga Australia.

Level 2 Yoga Teacher Training 150 hr 2 Core Modules are:

1. Yoga For common Musculoskeletal Conditions (50 hours)

2. Advanced Yoga Nidra and Mindfulness 
for relaxation, mental health and pain management. (40 hours).
Available now via the learning portal to do at your own pace or next online live in 2023.

Plus 3 Electives. 20 hrs each.

Chakras In Action (20hrs) : with asana, pranayama, mudra and bandha. 
This course is aimed at activating and balancing the chakras and related health conditions.
A new workshop each 3 months. Example practices to do between workshops.
5 x 3hr workshops Sunday morning EAST next live Oct 30th.
Or follow via the videos and/or live.

Enhancing Chakras (20hrs): with Yoga Nidra and Prana Vidya. (Deep Relaxation and meditation practices). Online via learning portal. (20hrs)
